Open-plan Kitchen Garage Conversion in Poynton
The brief here was to create one large open plan kitchen-dining room using the garage.
Get In Touch" The end result was beyond our expectations and the space they created for us has become an integral part of our day to day living. The team were very friendly and worked with care and attention, both on the job and in the house "
The Requirement
To remove 2 supporting walls between the 3 rooms, creating a huge space across the back of the house and bring the garage up to a habitable living grade. The garage section required fully insulating, damp proofing, electrics and plumbing. Then fitting out to the client's specifications.
The Solution
A structural engineer designed the steel beam layout required to support the walls. The garage walls had a DPC fitted, new floor brought up to the same level as the other rooms, and new insulation fitted to the floor and walls. All the electrics and plumbing were installed, and walls were plastered and skimmed. Now that the 3 rooms had been made into 1 room, the floor was tiled and the new kitchen fitted.
The Result
The resulting kitchen-dining room was spacious and impressive, providing lots of room for a large family that could all spend time together in one place. There was no indication that the room was ever used as a garage. The kitchen extended across 2 of the rooms, with a centre island housing the dishwasher and cupboards, in the dining area we installed sliding doors opening out to a new conservatory.
